When considering a livestock equipment purchase, product longevity is one of the key factors to be considered.  The following will give you an idea of how the galvanizing process works and why it is so effective in maintaining the condition of your equipment.

• All standard BSM steel products are hot dipped galvanized for the ultimate in longevity.
• Hot dip galvanizing is a multi-stage factory controlled process.
• Any defect in process turns up immediately as the material will turn black if it has not been cleaned properly.
• Galvanizing is a metallurgical reaction between steel and zinc.
• Galvanizing protects both the inside and outside of products.
• Galvanizing prevents moisture from reaching underlying steel.
• Zinc galvanizing provides cathodic protection to the underlying steel.  This means that in the event of a scratch or chip the zinc will corrode instead of the steel.
• The products of the zinc corrosion will seal up the scratch providing a new barrier of protection.
