Pressure Washing Tips

I ran my unit without venting the crank case. Did this damage the pump?
Ash Burns asks "I recently purchased a Coleman Powermate 13.5 HP with AR 4gpm / 3500psi pump. I ran the unit with the oil fill service plug still in the pump instead of the vented oil dipstick. Total run time without the crankcase being vented is under 1 hour. Did this cause damage to the pump?"

Harold: It is possible to damage a unit under the condition you describe. What happens is that the old air within the transmission expands and pressurizes the transmission. The problem that could occur is that the oil seals in the transmission might be pushed off their seats and an oil leak would occur. Watch the oil level of your unit, chances are in your favour that this did not occur.
