My pressure washer is too loud, what can I do to fix it?
Napoleon Valeriano writes "Hi, I recently bought a pressure washer rated 9 h/p Honda motor. It runs very loud when you engage the wand. Is this normal? also the unloader w/c has a plug on top & a +/- direction. How do you adjust it ? the knob is tight to turn either way. I tried adjusting it on the +/-plug but Idon't notice any change in pressure to was my car. Hope you could help me and thank you for your time."
Harold: Without seeing it I am unable to tell if your unit is louder than normal but I have to tell you that I think most power washers are too noisy.
Changing your unit's muffler to something different may affect the performance of your unit. I would suggest going to your local Honda dealer to see if they can supply a different muffler for quieter operation.
The unloader knob has a heavy spring under it making it somewhat difficult to turn. However when you turn the knob in the - direction it should lower the operating pressure dramatically. If this is not happening, examine the knob to see how it is attached. Some knobs have a lock nut behind them that can be backed out while others can have the knob removed by popping it off with a screwdriver.
